Tarazu Aka Flattery!!!

You might be wondering where on earth did I get a word like "tarazu" or "taraju". Those who are fluent in Hindi would be quick to comprehend the meaning as scale or balance but what has that got to do with flattery is something most of you might be wondering about.

To break the suspense, tarazu is the the colloquial term for "pickup lines" used by guys to hit on girls. Well, it definitely was new info for me too. So all those insane , inane and candied cliches that mock at your intelligence and force your gray cells to behave like suicide bombers form taraazus...

I had a discussion on the usage of such banalities and surprisingly, the result was unianimous support for them by both the the guys and girls..:(

Imagine a scenario like the one mentioned below.
A guy and a girl are going for a movie. Obviously they have a slight crush on each other. The guy tries to open a can of Pepsi for the girl and in the process ends up having a cut on his thumb. The girl asks him whether he is ok. And the guy shows her the drop of blood thats oozing(that too with a lot of difficulty) from his finger, points it to her forehead ,essaying the action of a filmi hero trying to put sindoor on the heroines forehead, and cracks the dialog "Bhar doo??" (Rough English translation would be "shall I fill your forehead with sindoor"?) , To me, this is a scene which would be howled at even teh worst of theatres but guess what.. The gal was impressed and trust me shes not the dumb blonde(no racism intended).

What I have been trying to portray is the fact that however dumb they may sound, girls like to be wooed. They love the attention, they love when people do crazy things for them, includes completely worn out dialogues like the one I mentioned above too. And guys, if you want to get a few girls, start practising your tarazus and wait for the right opportunity to whip it across and gain your reward:D

One observation.
Please don't generalize.
Yes,girls like to be wooed. But I'm sure they have preferences of form. While I agree some would fall for such cheesy, dumb one-liners(and that does not necessitate that the girl should be dumb herself, just amply desperate, narcissistic with real bad taste) ,some would be turned-off violently by it.
I speak from experience.
And as an authorized member of my sex. :D
